Located just south of Singapore’s Central Business District, one-north is an R&D hub for science, technology and infocomm technology. It houses global companies, promising start-ups and residencies, a business park, education centre, public spaces and lifestyle amenities that make it an ideal location for work and life.
Known as the “Silicon Valley of Southeast Asia”, the self-contained mini city is a major catalyst for business and research in Singapore. With over 200 hectares of space, one-north is home to a diverse range of research institutions and business organisations, including P&G and A*STAR.
The region also hosts some of the most prestigious universities and institutes in Singapore, including the National University of Singapore, INSEAD, Singapore Institute of Technology and ESSEC Business School. This provides ample opportunities for academic-industry collaboration and talent acquisition.
As a result of its strategic location, it’s an ideal place for P&G to conduct its research activities in the area. It also enables P&G to attract talented young minds and aspiring leaders from the local community.
One-north’s close proximity to the prestigious universities and institutes of higher learning also gives P&G ample opportunities for talent development and recruitment. This was a driving factor for us to locate our research facility at Biopolis.
Biopolis, located on a 200-hectare site in one-north, is an R&D hub for the biomedical industry and houses both public and private research organisations. It also aims to promote peer review and collaboration among its members.
Fusionopolis is a cluster of buildings occupied by information and communications technology (ICT) companies, in addition to the media and physical sciences industries. This complex includes the headquarters of INSEAD, Grab, Razer and Shopee.
There are a number of other research and business centres located within the complex, such as the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore Business School, SPRING Singapore and Ministry of Education. These institutions are a key component in one-north’s vision for Technopreneurship 21, which is focused on attracting knowledge-intensive businesses and the talent base to grow them into successful enterprises.
Pixel, a 0.5-hectare building, is home to a number of specialised schools that support the infocomm technology and digital media industries, with DigiPen Institute of Technology being the first school in Singapore to provide a degree-level programme in games development.
Wessex Village Square @ one-north has a variety of spaces for arts events. It is a short walk from the MRT station and offers easy access to Singapore’s main shopping malls, restaurants and pubs.
The area is also well-equipped with a wide range of schools and childcare centres, from preschools to tertiary level. For example, Fairfield Methodist School, PlayFACTO School and Lithan Launchpad School are all located within the vicinity of one-north.
As Singapore becomes more and more competitive in the international knowledge economy, it is important for companies to attract the right talent. The country’s policymakers have been proactive in creating a conducive environment for this to happen. Hence, they have embraced the idea of a “live, work, play” concept to foster entrepreneurial activities and encourage a healthy culture for innovation in the industry. This has led to one-north becoming a vibrant and dynamic zone with the highest concentration of intellectual, scientific and research talent in the country. the hill one north condo
