Founded by Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, Gesunde Ernährung Woom-Bikes are the result of their combined passion for cycling and kids. The Austria-based company is dedicated to building the lightest and most durable bikes for kids on the market, delivering a bike that’s fun, easy, and safe.
The woom bikes are designed with children in mind and feature a low sitting position, short cranks, narrow tread, an ergonomic saddle, high steering position, adjustable brake-lever reach, and a lightweight frame and fork. They also offer a range of accessories, such as helmets and gloves, to make them even more versatile and fun.
A woom balance bike is the perfect way to start your child on their journey to riding a pedal bike. It has a wooden footrest that allows them to lift their legs and pick up speed without the need for assistance. Once they master this, they can switch to a woom pedal bike with the same geometry as the balance bikes.
This is the smallest size in the woom range and has a 16-inch front wheel and a 20-inch rear wheel, allowing it to fit kids from age 6 to 14 years old. It is equipped with a frame integrated storage bag, front-mounted carrying rack, and both Schwalbe tires sized at 2.15 inches wide with RaceGuard puncture protection.
In addition, it has powerful dual hand brake levers and a detachable steering limiter to help kids learn how to ride safely. The bike is also incredibly light, weighing just 11.2 pounds, making it a great option for kids who are just starting out.
Once your kid has mastered the skills of riding a balance bike, it’s time to introduce them to gear shifting. The woom 4 has simple-to-use grip shifters and an innovative woom stem, which attaches to the original stem of your child’s bike. It is an excellent way to extend the amount of time your child can use the bike, and postpone the next purchase.
Lastly, the bike has a detachable chain guard to prevent chain stains and keep your child’s clothing clean. It is a nice design touch, and one that I was very impressed with during our review.
Another great feature on the woom 5 is that it has quick-release clamps on the wheels, making it easy to change tires in case of an emergency. You’ll also find a robust front and rear fender, as well as a small frame bag that can carry a water bottle and a few snacks.
The woom 5 is a versatile bike that can be used for long paved rides, neighborhood trails, and off-road rides. It’s equipped with a top-shelf SRAM X5 groupset, hydraulic disc brakes, and wide, 2.15 inch Schwalbe tires for grip and traction.
The woom bike brand is growing by leaps and bounds, thanks to their innovative design and low weight. Outside Magazine named it one of the best kids’ bikes on the market, and Good Housekeeping’s engineers rated the design as “phenomenal.” The bikes are extremely durable and come in an array of colors, so you’re sure to find something that’s perfect for your little cyclist!
